I saw my local tiny Thai corner shop had stocks of this displayed in the window. I remembered this NYT article so thought I’d pick up a pack for my kid, who is generally a big fan of instant ramen. It cost £11.49 ($14.50) for a 5-pack! I think that’s a lot for instant ramen. Haven’t tried any yet. Watch this space…
I don’t know how to nicely link the articles - I think this is an unlocked version but it doesn’t show up nicely in the OP like other posters’ linked articles do.
When you are looking at the article, click the Share full article icon, then Copy Link which you can paste into your post. I’m linking too in case yours didn’t work. I can’t tell b/c I’m a subscriber.
Thanks!
I got a six pack of these from my local Costco a couple of months ago. I don’t remember how much they were though. They are in the prepackaged bowls rather than in the square packets. They are less spicy than regular Buldak. Not bad but they taste nothing like carbonara.
The NYT article is from April 2024. It suggests this flavour is hard to find. But reading the comments in the article and looking online, it seems all the Tiktok frenzy has done is make them more expensive. The shop I bought them from had lots in stock.
I saw this at the Korean market down the street. I may have to go back and get one. I’m always looking for an excuse to go there anyway.
That is way too much for instant!
Having said that, this is everyone’s favorite buldak flavor. Hope you enjoy!
It’s actually made them cheaper, stores are overstocking them and clearing out 5 packs for a buck or two all the time. The bowl version has even made its way to Costco now.
We’ve tried the Buldak Carbonara now. My son said he enjoyed them but didn’t think they were worth the price. I wasn’t a fan - I found the noodles too thick and spongy-textured. And the soup flavour wasn’t great. I prefer the Thai brand Mama for instant noodles.
