Sam's Club YAY / NAY / MEH (2026)

No Costco where I live, alas — so Sam’s Club it is. Shirley, I can’t be the only one

YAY for the cheap-ass hot dogs at the cafeteria at one fitty plus a soft drink. Snappy, sawlty, meaty.

YAY for the $4.98 roti chicken, even though I cringe at the big boobs and sad little legses. That said, meat for a week plus stock = a Very Good Deal.

YAY for a case (roughly 1.5lbs) of honey mangoes at $11.47.

YAY for the avocado oil (34 fl oz.) at $13.98.

YAY for Ozzie lamb loin chops at $7.98/lb.

YAY for the Cosmic Crisp apples at $2.19/lb.

YAY for the sumo oranges at $2.65/lb.

This was also a great purchase at $9.96:

Hoping to make a shroom pasta with the black truffle / sea salt cheez

I was a Sam’s Club member for a number of years, but they closed the one that was close to me.

The next closest one was too much of a haul – I didn’t renew.

I don’t have anything bad to say about them. I remember getting flour, olive oil and other staples at a great price. Cleaning products were also nicely priced. I picked up a beautiful set of mixing bowls that I really like (they were a clearance item).

I wish they hadn’t closed that store, but I can pretty much find the same items at Walmart.

We got a really nice 24-pc set of glass containers there, too.

I’d say we mostly go for the fruit & veg, the chicken & other meats. So many of the frozen meals don’t appeal to us, nvm the YUUGE amounts for a 2-person household.

And gas is still cheaper than elsewhere, thankfully — especially these days!

I belonged to Sam’s for years becauae there’s one close to me.

But kiddo works for Costco, so I have an executive membership gratis. (And he gets the rebate at the end of the year).

So i just keep a list (on my phone lest it stay on the fridge when I leave the house) and make a visit once a month or so. If I time it right I take him to dinner after he clocks out, so bonus.

I have both memberships because they are literally across the street from each other :rofl:but use Sam’s every 10-1 times!
I like the hours better( early)sometimes I have stuff shipped or delivered.

Today’s haul

I saw the Clabber Girl Corn Starch, which reminds me I’m low on baking powder…

Can you pick me up some Clabber Girl Baking Powder??

Sure, no problem…

I’m not completely out.

You know you bake too much, when you can recite how much yeast, baking powder and baking soda you have in stock (without checking) :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

That will fortunately never be my worry. Baking is not my responsibility in the household, and thank goodness for that
