Those flavors look amazing! Unfortunately I won’t be in NYC any time soon. Really want that pear with Rogue Blue cheese! I love Jeni’s cherry and goat cheese ice cream. I usually prefer sorbet to ice cream, but I make an except for that Jeni.
I’ve eaten it often on the west coast, but I don’t get the cult obsession.
I’m surprised where they went for their first location too.
I like their vegan ice creams.
Not because I am vegan, but because to me their vegan creations have better mouthfeel and more clarity in flavor and texture.
Those were the two flavors I chose in the Palo Alto location, when I happened by at a time with low lines.
The flavors were less intense than I expected. It’s a little tough getting flavor at low temperature - especially with cheese - you don’t really get the cheese up to a temp you can really taste it before you swallow it, and I think a lot of the aromatics don’t make it to your nose.
It was good don’t get me wrong, but I’ll not be hustling over every chance I get.
I think Humphrey Slocomb “gets” flavors better, and they installed one about the same distance in the other direction and there’s never a line. If a “special flavor” doesn’t catch my eye, make mine a black sesame.
I love Jeni’s goat cheese and cherry ice cream. The goat cheese flavor comes through very well. I found the recipe online and make it at home.
