I love beef salad! What kindof dressing?

I made broccoli slaw.

I’m bookmarking this one too. Too bad I’ve already blanched and frozen the kale I got Tuesday.

EBTKS salad. Red cabbage, red onion, roasted golden beet, yellow pepper, carrot, broccoli, cauliflower, crumbled Italian sausage, (because if I don’t have protein I will turn to dust and blow away). Bleu cheese dressing.

This is the recipe. The dressing was really very good. I doubled it for some brainfarty reason bc we had more than 12 oz. of steak. As if that mattered in any way  (although I also probz doubled the salad bc I love salad… THE SECRET IS OUT!!!).

Beef salad is the best! Regardless of the accoutrements.

Tonight I made one of my all time favourite salads. The only disappointment was the jalapeño since it had absolutely no heat whatsoever. I did in fact leave the seeds in but it was like eating a plain ole green pepper

Ooo that looks like summer on a plate. I would probably have skipped the jalepeno (Yankee/ Midwest wimp that I am).

That salad truly is the best. You can easily leave out the jalapeño or even use a regular bell pepper to add a little colour if you wish.

Unfortunately they’re being bred that way these days. Sux.

Pretty salad, tho

I was wondering about that. Didn’t you mention on HO recently that you has an equally disappointing pepper?

No, but I listened to a podcast recently that was talking about it, and I seem to recall someone posting an article about the same subject here.

I mean yes. I have had many disappointing jalapeños.

Yep. The dratted TAM jalapeño has taken over the world (or at least most of north-of-border North America).

I often sub serranos. Not quite the same flavor profile, but at least they’re more likely to have some spice.

Thanks for sharing the article. Doesn’t do much good for those of us that like a little heat :frowning:

Hmmm I may try serranos next time. Thanks for the tip!

I think jalapeños now are a complete waste of time. Serranos can be too hot for me raw, I need to remove the seeds but when cooked they aren’t as hot.

I’m not a wimp but have only medium spice tolerance.

And I guess @ottawaoperadiva , @linguafood ; @CaitlinM :How about Fresno’s? Not always available, but I love them. Colorful and a predictable amount of heat.
