Sad news about HO member pilgrim

We don’t have an obituaries area per se, but I wanted to let people know that member Margaret Pilgrim, “pilgrim” on HO, passed away on Saturday at age 87. I’m eternally grateful to her for introducing me to HO because of the lively SF Bay Area discussion section, and we had some wonderful in-person lunches.

Her husband Chuck passed away a couple of years ago, and when she was clearing out Chuck’s wine collection she gifted us with several bottles of wine (including homemade aged vin de noix), wishing we could take more. We’ll raise a glass in both their honors.

@StephanieL Thank you for sharing this news. Hope pilgrim had a good life; she certainly enriched ours. She always gave sage advice and described her cooking in a way that made me want to have a seat at her table.

Hi Joel! You probably remember me from the NYC eGullet, OA, MF, etc. boards.

She was also an early member of eGullet - some thoughts from that site

Quite ironic her avatar, with a road sign ”end of the road”. Her humour and good spirit will be missed.

So sorry to hear this. I first met her online at another food forum. She was a wonderful human being, and always encouraged me. She had a lot of knowledge and was always willing to share it. I always enjoyed reading how she would whip up amazing meals out of whatever was in her pantry at the time.
