Dont know when was the last time we went to the same place 3 times in one year. With her severe Iwantsomethingnewtitis its extremely rare for us, but such is the case with Sabor Unido. We cant get enough since we discovered it in the spring. Its strikes that perfect balance of homey, comfort and modern. Nothing like the loud, grand rooms of Seabra’s or Valenca. Its the perfect size, and smartly furnished.
Not a bad dish in the house out of what we tried so far. Octopus, shrimp in garlic and Chicken with potatoes (usually in the specials) are the usual musts. Last time we also liked the fried chicken, and chicken parm. Skirt Steak is usually solid as well. Owned by a Brazilian family, and if you’ll get a chance to meet the owner (older gentleman), you’ll understand.
WOW that makes me want to run north RIGHT NOW! I was just talking about how much I miss the Ironbound… this must be a new-ish spot; hadn’t heard of it. Thanks for the tip! Curious to know where you had been going before you discovered this spot!
Before we used to frequent seabra’s marisqueira and Portugal Express.
This place does seem new but its been around since Covid I believe, though they closed for a while for renovations.
All good - Seabra’s Marisqueira has been a favorite of mine for a long time. Does Sabor Unido have parking? I must admit I’ve always found street parking down neck, but SM does have that big lot, which is always convenient.
Ive always liked the spirit more than the actual cooking quality of the Ironbound portuguese restaurants . Maybe its the seafood quality we can get here with acceptable prices…guess its time to go back. Thanks, Ziggy.
