[Ross on Wye, Herefordshire] Victoria's

Town centre cafe serving breakfasts and, at lunch, mainly sandwiches. We both went with the day’s sandwich special. Toasted sourdough, generously filled with smoked brisket (from the butchers at a local farmshop), caramelised onions and mozzarella. It’s served hot and oozing and is absolutely spot-on. Comes with a dish of chutney and a bowl of crisps. Flavoursome meat, Good bread. Proportions of ingredients just right. Lovely texture contrast with the crispness of the toast and the unctuousness of the filling. I didn’t expect to wax so lyrical about a lunchtime butty but there you are. Really good coffee as well. And a good playlist on the sound system – Kings of Leon and the like.
