[Richmond Hill, ON] The Big Brother

This new restaurant opened recently and does not disappoint. Bright, well lit space that serves amazing food. The staff attended to our party with fast, efficient friendly service. Worth the drive to Richmond Hill!

We had:

Hakka Style Tofus with Minced Pork and Secret Seafood Sauce - glazed tofu with a dollop of minced pork on top, like two great dishes merged into one

House Special Traditional Salted Chicken - tender chicken with a sweet salty taste

Handmade Fish Paste with Fresh Fish Broth and Water Grass - fish balls in a broth with a taste that grew on you with every bite

Seasoned Pork Ribs with Fresh Flat Wide Vermicelli - bite sized lightly seasoned ribs with fresh rice noodles in a delightful sauce

Black Truffle Paste with Boiled Conch and Taro Slices - superb taste combination. The conch with a light chew and crispy taro.

Desserts were Daleung Double Skin Steam Milk and Lion Shaped Guiling Jelly with Fresh and condensed milk - a fun end to a great meal

I was planning to give this place a try until I saw Jimmy’s thumbs down posting and decided to wait! Furthermore, my sister-in-law and friends tried it , found the food inconsistent and weren’t that impressed either.

{ Actually, before all these reviews, my family of 5 were there at 6.00 pm two Sundays back, thinking of giving it a try?! There was a long huge line outside and we were given a wait-in-line number of 27…meaning there were 26 parties ahead of us!! No way!! So instead, we went around the corner to First Choice and had an amazingly delicious, wok-hay stir-fried Cantonese dinner at maybe half the projected cost of Big Brother! We got a ping on our cell phone telling us our table is ready after we got home…almost 3 hours later!!😝😜🤣
