After lunch at Bowl’d yesterday, we walked past Renee’s Place and read the menu. It sounds good and was pretty busy. Any opinions? Thanks.
Tried it in 2012 and wasn’t impressed. Early iteration of Chinese CA bistro-style. No MSG, but also no taste on anything except some soya. Ordered a wide variety of dishes, but after a short while realized they pretty much all tasted the same blandness.
It’s the kind of place I’d take kids, or people that don’t like anything too spicy/sour/hot in Chinese food. Good quality ingredients and not greasy, but not very interesting if you’re a real aficionado of any Chinese regional cuisine.
YMMV, of course.
I had a feeling…It sounds very similar to a Novato restaurant (which also used to be in Mill Valley) called Jenny Low’s which is very bland, tasteless dumbed-down Chinese food. Some people love it though!
It reminded me of Eric’s in Noe Valley, SF.
