I thought it was one of the better Asian fusion restaurants, but their eatery on Mamaroneck Ave. has shut down. Their original spot on Mamaroneck Ave. in Mamaroneck, near the shuttered movie theater, remains open…
Their food was actually decent, but not great. Red Plum had been going down for several years. They were not willing to spend the money and time to do what it takes to stay relevant. They contacted me sixteen months or so ago to help them with their cocktail program, and nightlife program, but refused to spend the time or money on research, or to do what it would take to be competitive, without being just another Asian Fusion place. (And we are not talking a huge amount of time or money involved.)
I spoke to them about several options, each a different path from conservative, to middle of the road, to several radical ideas, but they only wanted to work in a narrow arena that had already been proven to be unsuccessful for them and their niche.
