Real Gusto, Medford MA

My husband and I had dinner at Real Gusto the other night and really enjoyed it. We shared a a light and delicious Sicilian salad with a bit of eggplant, sun-dried tomatoes and a quartered hard-boiled egg. The salad came mostly undressed with a bottle of very good balsamic on the side. We tossed it with the olive oil on the table and a bit of salt. All pastas and the bread, which was really excellent, are made in-house. I had a tasty carbonara with spaghetti. It wasn’t very saucy (warning for purists-the menu says it’s made with cream but I didn’t detect it) but had lots of tasty pancetta. My husband had pappardelle bolognese which we both thought was quite good. We split a house-made cannoli (nice crisp shell) for dessert. The baguette was excellent and service was terrific. The space is very attractive as well. I’m looking forward to trying the pizza, and will pick up some of the pasta to cook at home. We will be back.
