Northern Dumpling King to try more – a green bean & pork bun that I thought might include pickled green beans, a beef bun, and a cabbage and pork meat “pie” ie stuffed pancake. They have been sold out of the pickled pork and cabbage pie every time I’ve stopped in. The beef filling was a pleasant surprise – spicy! The stuffed pancake is hefty.
First time picking up frozen dumplings instead of cooked for snacks – they cooked up easily and without any bursting (and my friend will send the rest of the bag, cooked, back with the kid for whom I bought them).
I stopped in to take a look at what may or may not be an outlet of a chain from China which features lots of snacky stuff, including lamb dumplings and buns that were quite tempting, but I had loaded up already on snacks for the evening (dinner was being cooked by my friends), so that’s for another day.
The little Malaysian place (All Mart) in the corridor by the LIRR station has been closed the past few times I went by. Not sure what’s happening there. (The oyster cake guy moved across the street last I looked.)
Was planning to pick up Japanese-ish cheesecake / sponge cake hybrid and my own favorite sponge cakes for dessert, but then I saw mille crepes cake at the bakery on the same block as Northern Dumpling King, and it ended up being the star of the evening.
