Looking for nice quick eats during a short layover in Quebec city in late September. A short field trip may be involved and tying the two together might be fun. Something special about Quebec and its cuisine? Ideas and tips? Thank you!
My last road trip in 2019 was to Quebec City and Ste Agathe. A lot of the more interesting restaurants are outside the beautiful old quarter.
I would recommend a drive to Ile d’Orleans, which has cheese makers, well-known black currant producers, ice cider (alcoholic, made from frozen apples, jams, cheese. It’s worth the trip.
Foods I seek out:
Cretons
Things made with pork or maple
Duck
Sugar pie
Tourtière / Tourtière Lac St Jean
Pouding chômeur
Seafood from the Gaspé
Not a quick eat, but for reference

It’s been years since I was last there, but I’m sure my favorite restaurant there (I’ve eaten there a number of times) is still superb: Le Saint-Amour, a French restaurant in the old city. Not a quick eat, however.
