Project Cooking: Fancy Dinner for 18

You’re amazing and I’m sure the guests gave it all an A+! Glad you’re home safely.

I hope you got a much-deserved rest after, besides the snow shoveling you had to do.

Update: both myself and my SIL are sick now. The party was something of a superspreader event, apparently. I never get sick, but then I’m also never in close quarters with children, so…

Just got a negative COVID test result though, so there’s that.

I’m wearing my most aggressive medical-grade face covering at home (and generally staying on the second floor alone) in an attempt not to infect my mother, who does not handle seasonal illnesses well.

What a sad reward for all your hard work; I know many people who’ve had that very contagious flu.

We had what was likely the flu experience in Boston before Christmas and then going on for two weeks. It got better after some days but took a long time for symptoms to disappear. We were all vaxed for flu and covid in October. And we were never in contact with children. Sickest I’ve been in many years! It’s a vicious time for viral illnesses.

I hope you and SIL recover soon and your mom doesn’t get it.

Thank you! I’m grateful for my remote job in times like these. My SIL is a teacher in a private school and cannot really take sick days (which is awful, but apparently true.)

Not being able to take sick days with such vicious winter viruses is really bad for everyone at the school, adults and children. My husband and I are retired so that’s one thing we don’t have deal with.

So sorry you are sick! Feel better soon!

This is a residential school where the kids live in ‘houses’ six-deep, with a set of house parents per 6 kids. I can’t imagine the sickness levels all winter long. Horrifying.

My good wishes to all who are sick, at risk, tending, or witnessing. We are all having a hard time coping with so many challenges, and flu and extreme cold are making what was already hard even harder. A festive meal and online sharing were brightness we all needed.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. I had a fever for over a week and every symptom associated with the flu and COVID. I’m still really fatigued and congested with ears plugged enough to cause hearing difficulty. Apparently this one takes weeks to get over. Ugh. Like I said, wishing you wellness, soon.

UGH!!I’m sorry that people who were sick came to the party and made others sick! I hope it’s just a cold that you recover from very quickly.
