Pork Tenderloin sandwich, iowa

Apparently everyone in Iowa has their favorite place for pork tenderloin sandwiches, a friend had this beauty at Starbucks Fast Food in Nevada, Iowa.

Pork cutlets, yes.

Wahine had an aunt in Sioux City who would ship us boxes from her local butcher.

what is that, cornflakes in the breading? So massive! These are popular as I recall in Indiana too -and when I was a summer waitress in Columbus Ohio Im not going to say when I had one every day for lunch at Frisch’s Big Boy. Nevada is nextdoor to my Mom’s hometown Ames.

Kitty’s looks like the real deal! I looked at their most recent menu and the tenderloin sandwich was just $6.50!
This isn’t a pork tenderloin sandwich, but the porkchop sandwich at Del’s in Somers Montana is pretty darned good. Same concept, just a cheaper cut of pork that they run through a tenderizing machine which makes it a lot easier to eat while not impacting the flavor, plus it makes it extend out both sides of the sandwich. I really like this sandwich! I usually get two meals out of it.

On edit: I just saw the progression of sandwich prices on menus, $6.50 in 2021, $7.50 in 2023 and $9.50 in 2024. That is normal, I was wrong about the price still being $6.50 but it sounds like the place is much loved even with the new prices.

I’ve never had one, but I’ve always wanted to try one! Not a possibility out here on the northern California coast…

I prefer pork chop sandwiches to pork tenderloin but, to be fair, sadly, i’ve not eaten either in the Midwest.

This is David Stovall, who was a mainstay on Roadfood.

What a great tutorial! Down to earth. Thanks.
