I’m visiting family on Long Island later this week and would appreciate some pointers for two lunches/brunches and two dinners. We’ll be in Central Islip for part of the trip and Port Jefferson for the remainder, so I’m looking for spots within 20 minutes of either.
Ideally, I’m looking for things I’d have a tougher time finding where I live in San Francisco. My family leans toward Italian American, Jewish, seafood or traditional (or new) American places. Latino and Asian places are off limits. I’ve previously been happy with Branchanelli’s, Colosseo Pizza & Restaurant, & Vinny’s Mulberry Street.
Any additional suggestions? Maureen’s Kitchen has disappointed on recent visits, so an alternative brunch spot would be nice.
Timing-wise, these meals will be on Tuesday-Friday, the dinners no later than 5:30pm.
