[Pickering. North Yorkshire] Cappleman's

Very decent chippy lunch. For both of us, the “small special” (they also do a medium and large). Perfectly cooked haddock, in a thin batter (which could have stood being a bit crisper). Spot on chips – the slightly crisp, slightly floppy which distinguishes a British chip from an American fry. Tasty mushy peas – we prefer them a bit less mushy but it is a personal taste thing. And there’s a couple of rounds of buttered bread which were perfect for a chip butty. And a little bowl of tartare sauce – which you don’t really need when you’ve got Sarsons malt vinegar to drench your lunch in.
