A recent tally of Vietnamese Pho Restaurants, within a short 10 minutes drive from my Richmond Hill home, yielded an unbelievable 21 such establishments! This begs me to wonder whether there is some sort of weird magnetism or gravitational pull that entices this particular ethnic group to open up businesses in my specific neighbourhood?
Despite these vast selections and my having tried the majority number of them. For me, when it comes to a Pho fix. I generally just go for a huge, hearty bowl of casual, no nonsense, authentic option. Generously loaded with quality and tasty protein swimming in a piping hot, dense, complex, flavourful and umami packed broth and accompanied with fresh and good variety of garnishes and condiments……Pho Tai Bac met all these criteria and has been my hands-down go to place for over a decade!
With them making one of the best tasting and tender, fatty beef brisket amongst their peers. My choice has almost always stuck to the ‘ Rare Beef, Fatty Brisket and tendons ‘ option……with a side order of the yummy brisket, if I am starving! Today, in addition to the Pho, we also added a portion of their well made, non-greasy Vietnamese Spring Roll and Vietnamese prawn crispy pancake.
An affordable and most filling and satisfying meal.
