I had dinner at Pho de Nguyen in SoMa today after a Costco run. This is the second Pho de Nguyen location - they also have a restaurant in San Bruno. They’re located on a corner of 6th and Bryant that once housed a Turtle Tower. They open quite late - until 2 in the morning, closed on Sundays.
You order and also pay using a QR code on the table. I had the Pho Dac Biet (Beef Combination) ($19). This was a delicious bowl of pho. It was served in an insulated stainless steel bowl that I think helped it remain hot while eating. The broth was very nice - flavorful and collagen rich with bits of fat interspersed. I actually finished all of the broth in my bowl. There was rare filet mignon, some brisket pieces I think with chewy connective tissue, flank steak, bouncy meatballs, and a few pieces of oxtail which I added for an extra $6. The oxtail was great and well worth adding. It was tender and beefy and had a lot of soft tendon-y bits. You have your choice of noodles - thin noodles, flat noodles, vermicelli (bun), and egg noodles (mi). I chose the flat noodles, and they were nice and soft.
Herb bowl - Thai basil, jalapeños, lime wedges, and bean sprouts.
