[Penang, Malaysia] Rooftop BBQ at the Museum Hotel, A.S. Mansoor Road

Got together with a bunch of Penang foodies for a BBQ dinner at the rooftop of the 4-storey Museum Hotel on A. S. Mansoor Road. It’s located in one of George Town’s oldest neighborhoods - the Indian-Muslim quarter around Hutton Lane, where some of Penang’s oldest food items like the iconic nasi kandar was created.

The hotel is also located in a conservation area where no buildings taller than 4-storeys are allowed, but is close enough to Komtar, the 68-storey government building in the neighboring sector, for it to loom large.

The BBQ dinner set we had included a selection of pinchos: grilled vegetables wrapped in tortillas or resting atop toasted bread, covered with aioli/creamy garlic sauce.

For the items to be grilled, there were chicken kebabs, lamb chops, tiger prawns, matsutake mushrooms, eggplant and corn.

Always nice and relaxing to have a leisurely meal at the end of the day, lots of good food, and with beer and sake to wash them down.

Toasted marshmallows at the end of the meal, as the sun began to set.
