Just had a good Modern-Thai dinner at ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ผ๐๐ฎ๐ป ๐ง๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ on Campbell Street this evening. Itโs fronted by prolific Medan-born restaurateur, William Choong, whoโd also previously conceptualised Patio Bar de Tapas @ Weld Quay, and Anak Padang @ Kimberley Street.
Khaosan Tapas Bar is the present incarnation of what was previously the very popular Hanjan Eatery Soju Bar (opened early-2019), which then converted from Korean to Modern Thai back in March 2024. Its current menu is designed by two Masterchef Thailand Season 3 finalists, Sahadol โPondโ Tantrapin and Patcha โToeiโ Kalyanamitr.

Very good meal all round. William Choong maintains a very good relationship with the Thai Masterchef personalities - last week, Masterchef Thailandโs Season 3 Champion, Nuntawat โMaxโ Chanyalikit, also participated in a 6-hands collaborative event with Chef Pond and Chef Toei at ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ผ๐๐ฎ๐ป ๐ง๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ. Itโll be interesting to see how this place progresses.
