[Penang, Malaysia] Food picks at the Malaysian-German Society X'mas Market

It was cakes galore at the Malaysian-German Society’s Christmas Market last Sunday, 1 Dec. The whole place gave new meaning to “Christmas in the Tropics”, as most attendees turned up in summer wear. :joy:

Food galore, and some of what we ate:

Grilled bratwurst with sauerkraut.

Some of the best pretzels we’d tasted in a long while.

Meatloaf and devilled eggs.

Spätzle, a classic Swabian noodle dish, with bacon chips & gherkins.

Italian arancini

Massive choice of cakes on sale there: all proceeds to nominated charities - pity I had room to taste only 3.

Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and walnuts

Gugelhupf, with lemon-poppyseed-cranberries.

Blueberry cheesecake.

Apfelstrudel

Christmas comes early!

Looks like fun! Nice that you can have a taste of German Christmas in Malaysia! Looks like the weather called for Iced Glühwein mit Schuss!
Aranchini?

There was also a French creperie kiosk there which I’d wanted to photograph, but forgot amidst all the revelry.

The Francophone/French-speaking community in Penang numbers around 500, quite small as the French rather prefers to live in their former colony, Vietnam, whilst in this region. The German-speaking community in Penang numbers around 3,200.
