[Penang, Malaysia] Best thosai at Michael and Devi Cafe, Market Cross

Best 𝘡𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘒π˜ͺ in Penang at Michael and Devi Cafe on Market Cross (Lintang Pasar). The 80-year-old 𝘡𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘒π˜ͺ spot was managed by Michael & his wife, Devi, for nearly two decades until 2013, when their daughter, Priscilaa Michael took over.

At the time, Priscilaa was only 15 years old when her father, Michael, fell seriously ill. Her mother had passed on a few years earlier. For the past 12 years, the very eloquent Priscilaa has single-handedly took upon herself to manage her family’s business with unbridled enthusiasm and amazing efficiency!

Michael and Devi Cafe’s claim-to-fame is their spongey-soft, moist thosai, served with a dollop red chili-tinged kara-chutney, and lightly spiced sambhar gravy. Also, don’t muss their incredibly light, crisp, golden-fried 𝘷𝘒π˜₯𝘒π˜ͺ as well. Best ever.

I need to return and try the other menu items on offer.
