Louisiana seafood boil seems to be taking Singapore and Malaysia by storm the past year - Singapore has the Dancing Crab at the Turf Club, whilst Kuala Lumpur has the Crab Factory in SS2 - both with long queues for a table.
Lucky for us, Penang’s three-month-old Crab & Lobster, though it was packed by the time we left, had quite a few vacant tables when we walked in for lunch at 12.30pm today. Located in Straits Quay, overlooking the pretty marina, Crab & Lobster combines good food, messy eating arrangements (think seafood poured onto your table and with plastic aprons and gloves provided - an ominous indication of what the meal’s going to be) and a great casual seaside ambience.
- Our seafood lunch - enough for two persons: one whole Boston lobster, prawns, mussels, potatoes, corn and sausages, in a thick, spicy crab-lobster sauce.
- Every diner is provided with a plastic apron and plastic gloves.
