Waymann Cheong, 31, won the Michelin Guide to Kuala Lumpur and Penang’s prestigious Young Chef of the Year 2025 award.
The wily young chef’s approach regularly crosses culinary boundaries, inter-weaving French, Chinese and Japanese cooking techniques, whilst staying firmly grounded in his Penang roots.
Past Michelin Young Chef winners included Lim Yan You, 35, of 1-Michelin-star Au Jardin (Young Chef 2023) and Johnson Wong Jia Liang, 34, of Gēn (Young Chef 2024).
