Rejoice! I didn’t know a single kid who had peanut allergies when/where I grew up.
Nor did I. My god, the number of PB&J sandwiches I saw in grade school (including myself) and even high school (for those who brought their lunches in HS rather than buy from the lunch ladies) was astonishing.
ETA: And I agree that introducing young children to potential allergens such as nuts, eggs and milk in small doses multiple times (unless severe reactions occur) is a way for them to “get over” any potential allergens. I mean - that’s what happened when I got shots for my pollen allergies for trees, grasses, weeds, and molds: you’re given shots of what you’re allergic to to build up a resistance.
Let kids play in the dirt and with flowers and bugs. Don’t dose them up with sanitizer all the time. Let them build up their natural immunities.
Nor I. The world ran on PB&J sandwiches, which I still eat.
PB&Js weren’t even a thing in Germany. Still very much aren’t.
i didn’t realize egg allergies were a thing.
Which is a good thing
Yes, I thought that was obvious.
Oh, they totally are. I recently met someone who is allergic to eggs, and it really limits what you can eat, especially prepared foods/baked goods.
My sister was allergic to eggs when she was a child, but she’s over it now.
I have a friend who’s highly allergic to eggs. On one occasion she had egg allergy symptoms after a vaccine shot; contacted the clinic, to find out it was prepared from an egg extract.
Out of the blue I developed an allergy to beef, rice, and coffee, after enjoying them all my life. Avoided them, and all was ok. I was told a few years later by an allergist that you should challenge your body every few years, so I did; allergy gone.
