The first workers to arrive at Donut Avenue tonight are those harvesting corn in Westmorland, 31 miles northwest of Calexico, and Calipatria, 33 miles north. Their shift begins at 2 a.m. Afterwards, they will cross the border and return to Mexicali to sleep, shower, eat and begin the cycle again.
