Anyone have any information on the aforementioned restaurant in the Oyster Point Hotel?
Heading there today for dinner another restaurant week request from GF
3:10 pm too late for any tips
I will report back on this place tomorrow
Was The Pearl a gem ?
On certain levels yes
The pros : Beautiful outdoor seating with a great view of the Navesink
The Menu A typical restaurant week menu with enough options to satisfy a very picky party of 4
Cocktails & wine list were good.
The bread basket was warm & ciabatta like rolls
The appetizers were good Brie Bites & Oysters got high marks the chopped salad was “ boring “ I am not a salad guy so I don’t understand but onto the entrees
The Salmon dish was cooked well and very tasty, still not sure what the vegetables it was served over but it was ok.
Short ribs got high marks
The desert was my favorite dish
Warm waffle bowl with 3 huge scoops of gelato
The Apple cobbler got High marks as it was served warm with a large scoop of vanilla gelato.
The Cons: A shrimp cocktail was ordered & never served
Later in the meal the server apologized for the oversight & said it was due to the shrimp being bad.Is this a concern? Well not tonight but maybe in the future.
Coffee was never offered however we didn’t realize it until we were done.
Would I go back? I probably will.
It was a fun night out as the weather was great and the sunset over the Navesink was spectacular.
I think for a casual meal it’s a good place to eat.
I’m a bit late to the party but yes, it’s a good local spot with excellent outdoor/waterfront seating. We’ve enjoyed it a few times in recent years. Glad you enjoyed.
And… scene.
BTW the happy hour menu looks good
When I first moved to the area, nearly 30 years ago, the Oyster Point was THE happy hour spot. Outdoor / indoor music and drinks and plenty of singles looking to mingle.
Yes 30 years ago that place on a Friday night was the place for single scene & not so single too LOL I had so much fun there.
I didn’t know about Pearl at the Oyster Point Hotel until @Ragtopssk posted about it. After reading his positive review in which he included the info that they have outdoor dining, we decided to go there for lunch this past Monday, the fourth day of the crazy, unseasonably warm November weather.
It actually isn’t “outdoor” dining per se; however, the wall facing the Navesink has wide openings which was fine with us especially since we chose a table directly in front of one of the openings. (They can be fully closed when it’s cold out.) The chairs were exceedingly comfortable, and the view on a bright, sunny aafternoon was lovely. At 3 p.m., there was only one table occupied when we arrived and another became occupied while we were there. Noise was not an issue though they did play pleasant music at an agreeable level.
We both started with French onion soup and both ordered fish & chips for our mains. For dessert, Mr. R. had the gelatos in a waffle bowl, while I had the sticky toffee pudding topped with ice cream. We both agreed that the soup was one of the best versions we’ve had, and that the coating on the fish was crisp. The only complaint was that the very crispy fries were lukewarm which was a shame because if they had been hot, they would have been outstanding. Both desserts were fine.
Service was pleasant and attentive. Overall, a very enjoyable experience.
Since, as most of you know, we aren’t doing indoor restaurant dining, Pearl definitely goes on our list for next year.
