OT Other things to do during the quarantine

That was my first thought!

I’m not vain about my appearance. But dammit I could use a haircut after all this time. Anyone else feel the same way?

No, I’m not asking for hair salons to open up again.

My daughter had a virtual coffee date this afternoon with a coworker who
is QT’ed with 2 young children, aged 2 and 4. This is the speciality coffee they enjoyed.

Yes @Miss_belle, my hair is about to drive me crazy. Almost to the point I’d consider letting H give it a trim. But he gets carried away trimming the shrubs, sooo probably not a great idea. At least I did my nails yesterday, which makes me feel better.

I showed our cat Emma a picture of Sideways Boy this afternoon. She wasn’t particularly impressed I’m afraid. I on the other hand was talking to a cat. sigh

I trimmed my wife’s hair last weekend and she at least said she is pleased. This weekend I’m painting her toenails.

If your husband comes at you with something electrically or gasoline powered mumbling about Spring growth and trimming back to the notch I suggest placating him with one of @Lambchop’s special coffees.

Great idea Dave! Have been considering the pedicure option too - how nice of you to paint your wife’s toenails! Just wish I had a nice bright color polish for mine.

The last time I had my hair cut was the first week in February. My hair stylist is a very opinionated black woman. She ran on and on about how the Chinese had concocted this virus over there and it got loose somehow. And they were lying about it. Can’t wait to touch base with her again.:slightly_smiling_face:

I have a plan. Warm water soak in a dish pan, lotion/foot massage, polish. Not going to do any of the rosewood stuff - I’d probably hurt her. I know my limits.

Are you up late or early?

Am I up late or early? Usually early only if I haven’t slept the night before :upside_down_face:, or haven’t slept well. Sometimes I’ll have 2 cups of coffee at that point, which sometimes makes me sleepy (what’s up with that?) and I’ll catch a nap at that point. So, it all depends…why?

You know @Miss_belle, it could have jumped the lab, after being weaponized…however, apparently most scientists don’t think so. There is speculation though, and it does seem to be a perfect virus, as far as transmission goes, and lethality. Whatever, it’s a nightmare, and we can only hope for an early and effective vaccine.

That said, I can see where an overly chatty and opinionated stylist could get on your nerves. My friend does my hair, and we have a great time, always.

Just curious. You in California right? Thinking time and time zone.

I’m not sleeping well these days so I usually go down around 8p and I’m up anywhere from midnight or so until I can go back to bed and sleep. Naps during the day. When I’m restless I talk in my sleep so my wife is just as happy for me to get up and work.

Since I’m up (2a) I’m going to make a WhatsApp call to a vendor in Germany and then try to get some more sleep.

Not in California, but Pacific Time - up here in the Seattle area. I feel your pain regarding the sleep; I’ve been tempted to move to the Southern Hemisphere so I can talk to my friends in the middle of the night, and they’ll all be awake :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Also think about calling customer service in New Zealand to talk about minor issues/trouble shooting my kitchen appliances. They are all from NZ. Sometimes I can’t channel my nighttime energy very well, and am hopeful if I don’t get overly charged up, I’ll become exhausted and sleep. Plus the cat, oddly enough, isn’t nocturnal, and I don’t want to disrupt her sleep. So, mindless TV, with calming narration, and music sometimes.

I bought electric clippers and Mrs H ran it over with a #2 fitting (as I usually have at the barbers). She did a good job.

I have offered to reciprocate but the offer was declined. The current thinking is to let it grow - I have a photo of our wedding day in 1972 next to the computer and she wore it very long in those days. She worries more about her gray roots showing more each day. I’ve toyed with suggesting that this may be the opportunity to transition to permanent gray - but I’m too scared to voice that at present.

Funny—I did mine yesterday too! Rarely get a manicure because I keep them short since they’re in terrible shape (which is why they’re better with some polish). What I’M missing is a pedicure. Will likely attempt it myself next week, as I’ve trimmed them a couple of times and now the polish looks like my teenaged niece’s–just flecks in the center.:rofl:

Tell her that she should wear her gray proudly! I couldn’t be more thrilled that I’ve never colored my hair, and have always said I’ve earned the grays… and for real—20somethings have been dying their hair platinum in the last year, so it IS in style!
