Really nice dinner at Osteria Mercato https://osteriamercatostresa.com/ in Stresa at the Lago Maggiore. Perfect weather to sit outside and enjoy their creative appetizers (e.g. octopus “taco”, savory creme brûlée) and more classic entrees with excellent house-made pasta and gnocchi
When you look for some lunch in Stresa don’t miss Cicinin Panini Al Metro - they only make 4-5 sandwich selections each day but they are fantastic, unusual and from the region. Some of the nest sandwiches you will have anywhere
After reading your reply on my thread, I came to check out your posts about Stresa. I was there from July 25-Aug 1, and until July 31st, it was crazy hot and humid. The final night, a front passed through and it cooled down significantly in the evening.
I’m thinking you must have been in Stresa in August, and not July…otherwise we have really different ideas about what “perfect weather to sit outside” means.
We were in Stresa around 8/9-8/12 and most of the days the temperature was during the day around 95F but at least for us with reasonable humidity (around 40-50%). Looking back, somehow we never really went to the beach during the two weeks in Northern Italy and mainly explored towns/cities.
The worst temp were in Bologna reaching 100+F
you may agree with us that humid hot summer is not the right season to visit Emilia Romagna!
Not very compatible with the rich traditional cuisine, but you see why the arcades are a good idea!
