Oregon Liquor Control Officials Kept Rare Whiskeys for Themselves

I do not drink myself, but my partner (and many friends) are dedicated whiskey lovers, and from all the information I’ve gathered through them, Pappy’s is generally regarded as a triumph of marketing. That is, it’s very good bourbon, but there’s bottles just as good for a quarter of the price.

I think the two most expensive bottles in my partner’s collection are a bottle of Middleton Very Rare Irish whiskey, and a bottle of Sullivan’s Cove Tasmanian whiskey that she discovered when we went to dinner at a fancy steakhouse in Sydney when I worked there for month. Difficult to find outside Oz/Nz. Both were around $200-250.

THOUSANDS? For a bottle? yeesh.
