Oraan Thai [SF, Richmond]

We found ourselves at Oraan Thai after a pleasant walk at Crissy Field a few weeks ago. I wanted to try the charcoal BBQ place, but it was full so we walked over to Oraan Thai.

I loved this concoction I had, essentially a hearty noodle soup with pork belly, meatballs and a sweet and earthy pork bone broth. Perfectly crispy and chewy pork belly, meatballs with real meat instead of filler. And a broth that had spent a few hours making friends with pork gelatin and bone and fish sauce. I rate this place for sure, and my wife also enjoyed her veggie noodles.

What is this noodle called? Can’t quite find the exact noodle on the menu.

Sukho Thai Noodle

I can’t find it on the current menu, but here is the precise name and description:

Sukho Thai noodle

Thai rice noodle topped with ground pork, roasted pork, crispy pork sliced, green bean, grounded peanuts & chili in lime-fish sauce.

I was looking at that noodle too. Are the balls extra then?

When my friend and I ate there we thought the Pad Thai and soup was way too sweet.

Pretty spot, charming staff.

We liked the crispy eggplant.
