Wow, it’s sad how dead this Boston-area section has gotten. Not that I’m helping; but I have absolutely zero insight these days. So in the hopes of getting some kind of activity going, here’s Boston.com’s post from yesterday regarding new restaurants:
On my way to Ciao pizza (yum!) last night, I walked past the location of the sadly missed Taco Party and was surprised to see that it is now a high end Italian restaurant named Olivia’s Kitchen. When did that happen? A quick glance at the online menu would suggest that it is pretty tony for Ball Sq! I will be curious to see what the early reviews are like.
I don’t have time to look for an open access version, but Willie’s just got a very favorable mini-review from Devra. We walked past on our way to Project Hail Mary a couple of weeks ago and it was already packed. Forget about ever getting in there now. Dang it.
Love the idea of non-alcoholic drink spaces. As a non-drinker, it’s appreciated that we want to hang out too, but we don’t have a desire to get drunk or buzzed while doing that. Just wished these places were closer to me or to the downtown area. With the rent, I know that is a tough ask given how much a liquor license costs on top of the monthly dues.
According to a recent Boston.com article, Tree House Brewing applied for brewery and distillery licenses at Boston’s Faneuil Hall Marketplace on April 2, according to filings with the state Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission.
The prospective location would take the site of the former Cheers replica bar, which occupied the space for 20 years before closing in 2020 during the pandemic.
Oh dear. This is one of my friends’s favorite places to eat. She lives right down the street and I’m supposed to have lunch with her on Monday so perhaps we’ll go. She has her husband’s memorial service on Saturday so she’ll probably would like to go someplace comfortable. I’ve shared several forgettable meals with her there, but they treat her really well and frankly, sometimes that’s all that matters.
Especially that’s all that matters on an occasion as the week of her husband’s memorial service. Sending my sympathy to your friend and you for the loss of her husband; I think I remember that he was also a dear friend for you and your husband.
A positive development. Perhaps the first of additional steps to make Quincy Market and Fanueil Hall relevant for natives once again. I miss those days.
Not to derail but we know actually still relatively little about key biology around ALS. Many pathways around TDP-43 and their different impacts on the disease are still not well understood
Somehow I missed the news that Tallulah’s Taqueria closed back in February. I have eaten at the Foxpoint location a few times in the past and always enjoyed it.
