I got the names mixed up the other night and ended up ordering from Number One Taste Chinese in Arlington. Wow, never making that mistake again. To call it mediocre would be a compliment.
It’s especially confusing, because both Number 1 and Home Taste have outlets in both Arlington and Watertown.
A cheat sheet for all:
Home Taste: Good, maybe even great
Number One Taste: Bad, but you won’t get sick, so that’s something
Oh dear. Number One Taste is right near Spring Onion’s school and I’ve wondered about it. I will wonder no more. Thanks for the report.

Their website seems to be 90% the typical old school Chinese American foods. Not that that alone makes them bad, but it certainly seems like it’s not even trying to mimic newer Chinese restaurants trends and tastes.
I admit when I saw the menu I was like “this doesn’t seem quite right” but then I saw the noodle section (which is Home Taste’s strength), so I thought (wrongly) I was in the right place.
