Omnibus ICE CREAM Thread

How do you feel about durian? Would you try it? Bourdain tasted that in one of his episodes in San Francisco, and didn’t dislike it, if I recall correctly.

Great name for an ice cream brand

Irresistibles is House Label for one of our grocery stores. Available at Metro and Food Basics.

Fell in love with Salt & Straw on West Coast trips. I’m sh*tting my pants excited because they are finally going to come to my city, and close to where I work. I love ice cream and this is simultaneously one of the happiest and worst developments that can happen.

Thrifty showed up in my supermarket a few weeks ago. i had their Pecan Praline a couple of days ago and wasn’t impressed with it. To me it seemed like “half gallon” ice cream sold in a pint container and not very thrifty.

After looking at my supermarket’s website, it seems I could have gotten the 1.5 quart container for only a dollar more than the pint that i bought, so it’s a bit more thrifty than i thought, but I don’t recall the store having anything but the pints.

i went back a second night with a large group of people and this time i got the sea salt with caramel ribbons. also DELICIOUS. i think the pistachio had a slight advantage, however. they claim they use sicilian pistachios… i’ve bought some of those myself and they are HELLA expensive. The ice cream isn’t cheap, but that single ingredient is big bucks.

After clearing out this box, I just realized why I hate minature ice cream cones.

Huckleberry and Lemon Honey at Moo’s in Jackson, WY. Really good - they sure serve big scoops.

I don’t know what I’m more jealous of.

The ice cream (both of them) or the fact that you’re at Jackson WY.

Ben and Jerry’s fan here. Have loved it since living near the factory in Waterbury in the 1980s. We usually keep some in the freezer.
