Oakland suggestion for 4

Our friends are visiting at the end of the month and staying in Oakland. They want to have dinner one night in the East Bay; preferably in Oakland.

What’s new and interesting and really good and ideally around forty-five a head, before tax and minus drinks?

Any cuisine works.

Thanks

Doesn’t have to be high end btw; we’d be just as happy doing a Chinatown banquet style meal in downtown Oakland. Any ethnic meal with shared plates works too. Or something nicer. Whatever’s really good.

Oh and while you’re at, any tips on new/great cocktail bars please!

How new is new?

Grocery Cafe is not old but not newest either and is well loved. And not in the glossy part of town if they want to get a feel of the neighborhoods where people live.

Delage is new and people liked it here, though the omakase is $65pp. I havent been.

Chinatown banquet is kinda the same all the time, so they can be interesting to the visitors if they don’t have Chinatown where they came from. but the restaurants are not necessarily new. If banquet food is what you and they are after and if you don’t mind the long drive on 880, just preorder the awesome banquet stuff from Yum’s in Newark.
