Menus in the New York area from 1850s-2000s
I think this has been up or partially up for a while, but they’re always adding features. You can download the latest data on all 421,135 unique dishes, or learn how to use their API through a github page. It came to my attention again from the NYTimes article http://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/06/books/new-york-public-library-invites-a-deep-digital-dive.html?smid=tw-nytimesarts&smtyp=cur&_r=0 which points to some other great visual and map releases. I could sure go for a boiled leg of lamb/mutton with caper sauce, available on over 10 menus pre 1906.

Mutton with caper sauce is a classic in my part of the world.

This is great - thanks!

wow. they have been working on this for quite some time, but it’s come a looooong way since the last time I looked. Great project, thanks for the reminder to check it out again.

Anybody else think all menus should be in the public doman?

Obviously not wedding menus or birthday menus, but otherwise…
