this looks like a really good rec. We always went to Pepe’s (there was another place that closed that had better clam pizza) since Jim was in New Haven in 76-78 but our most recent visits were sort of disappointing especially the clam pie.
Not that I recall, but my visit was some years back, during a daylong pizzeria road trip.
Zuppardi’s was the finest clam pie I’ve ever experienced!

I was going to recommend Zuppardi’s too. The best clam pie period. We have a place further up the coast and often on a Friday night we call ahead and order a fresh clam pie for pick up. Since the wife and I can’t decide we have cheese on half and no cheese on the other half. $39 for a medium pie and worth every penny. I have not counted but I think there are at least 3 dozen just shucked little necks.
It can get busy but nowhere close to the craziness of Sally’s or Pepe’s.
