North coast, Oregon

What suggestions do people have for coastal eating between Tillamook and Seaside? In my experience, it’s pretty much a desert. The only bright spot I’m aware of is Buttercup in Nehalem, which has good soup (the Malaysian seafood chowder is excellent) if you reheat it, and above average ice cream (superb burnt chocolate). But that’s about it. For doing your own cooking, the two fish and seafood outlets at the Garibaldi marina are wonderful, but Garibaldi’s a trip if you’re Manzanita or north. So we end up mostly bringing our own food for beach sojourns. Any other options?

You could head an hour south and combine a visit to the Neskowin Farmers Market (and a walk or a drive around the very pretty town) and brunch at the Otis Cafe on a Saturday. Both well worth a trip.

I love the Cafe at Hawk Creek, but it has been a couple of years.
