Nopa Fish [San Francisco, Embarcadero]

Yesterday I had lunch at the somewhat recently opened (June 2025) Nopa Fish in the Ferry Building. Nopa Fish is a casual restaurant and seafood market from chef Laurence Jossel who also runs Nopa on Divisidero in NoPa.

Here’s the menu.

There’s seafood for sale on display. The service for the restaurant part is fast casual - you order at the counter and get a number if you’re dining in. They bring your food out to you.

I had a cup of the Seafood Chowder ($13, the bowl is $18), which was very good. It was creamy and rich without being cloying, and there was smoked fish (trout I think) which added just a hint of smokiness, potatoes, and a lot of mushrooms.

I also had the Fish and Chips ($25), which was also very good. There were three pieces of rockfish, in a beer batter that had a very nice texture, crispy but with still a bit of give. The rockfish was moist and flaky. There was a spicy aioli to dip in, and you can also get some other condiments like ketchup and vinegar. I opted for just some vinegar. There were some fries underneath that were quite good and very similar to the ones at Nopa, and some turmeric spiced pickled vegetables including onions and cauliflower.
