Nonfiction with a food theme

I’ve really been enjoying Eat Joy: Stories and Comfort Food from 31 Celebrated Writers, edited by Natalie Eve Garrett. Lots of good stories and recipes. I’ve been reading a few of the essays every day. It’s also a nice-looking book with beautiful watercolor illustrations by Meryl Rowin.

From Amazon: “” This collection of intimate, illustrated essays by some of America’s most well-regarded literary writers explores how comfort food can help us cope with dark times–be it the loss of a parent, the loneliness of a move, or the pain of heartache".

Ahem. May I suggest…

“Bully Beef & Biscuits - Food in the Great War”.

It even mentions Americans and their wartime experiences on several occasions.
