New Somebody Feed Phil season on Netflix

We’ve watched the first two episodes: Amsterdam, and Basque Country of Spain. We’re enjoying them for the exposure to new foods and places. Also silly jokes at the end of each episode.
I sometimes get tired of his bug-eyed enthusiasm, but I’nm still watching. I know some people really don’t enjoy his schtick, but that’s okay. If you don’t like him, you don’t have to watch!

What a coincidence! We were just talking about the new season here:

His shtick grew on me, and I adore his enthusiasm. Miss the ending where he would talk to his parents, tho :slightly_frowning_face:

I love this quote of Phil Rosenthal’s from a recent interview with The Boston Globe:

“My attitude is if you put nice out there, you get nice back,” he says. “Some small act of kindness could change someone’s life.”

Truth.

Here’s The Boston Globe article in case anyone wants to read more (no gift link available, unfortunately).

Perfect quote. He’s darling.

Can’t imagine him holding a grudge against anyone, ever.

When I used the word schtick, I didn’t mean to imply that his enthusiasm and warmth are invented. One of the things I like about him is that he seems very genuine which is so rare lately. Anyway, it’s a very sweet show.

We seem to have somehow skipped a few from S7 & S8 (or I forgot them… Tbilisi? I have a vague recollection of Boston ).

I enjoyed Amsterdam (fun, but I practically grew up nearby & have visited countless times), Basque Country (drooling through most of it, never been), Mumbai (everything looked delish — the street foods in particular), Manila (damn do Filipinos make good food!), and Guatemala.

If we watched other episodes they weren’t particularly memorable.

Love watching the show during dinner

I just watched the season and in addition to the food, LOL’ed at some jokes. I especially liked Jane Fonda’s.

The only one I thought was really funny was the priest and rabbi talking about what was forbidden, lying down with a woman for the priest, eating pork for the rabbi.

I loved the one about dating twins. I’d heard it before, but I’d forgotten the punchline. Don’t remember which epi it was.

I like how the new season (8?) is far more political than the previous ones.

And boy, do we have a lot of threads about this show
