New Jersey Coronavirus/Covid19 Local Restaurant Specials

The Starbucks I mentioned on Rt. 27 just north of Parsonage Rd. does have an outdoor sitting area, that very well might be open. I would give them a call and see. If not their old location on the corner of Parsonage and 27 is now called Frappe Joe, they do have outdoor seating (not very picturesque) just not sure about wifi.

I think the phone is off the hook at that location  Skylark Diner has outdoor seating and I’ll just go there. My concern was occupying a table for too long if they were busy , but the lovely hostess has assured me that is not the case. Thanks for the help.

Funny I just passed there yesterday, yes they have a tented off section of their parking lot so you will be fine there. Do me a favor, stop by and try the chicken at Jollibee!!! (The old Roy Rogers on Rt. 1 near the Skylark) I don’t know if yesterday was their grand opening but the place was PACKED, full parking lot and a line of cars extending out to Rt. 1. I tried to send @seal there since he was having a fried chicken craving lately but he’s been slacking lately so I’m depending on you to take on for the team!!!

Ah, 94 degrees and a tent in the parking lot. This should be lovely

Re: jollibee my daughter is living in Highland Park and said the traffic into that place is nuts with a cop on Rt. 1 trying to keep people from rearending the Jollibee patrons!

NO sh*t!!! So yesterday wasn’t their grand opening that’s just a “normal” business day. Wow…honestly I was fascinated so I checked out their web site, fried chicken and a burger anyone? No? How about fried chicken and spaghetti? (yes that’s a real combo) Or you can get their chickenjoy bucket!! Their menu is quite eclectic for a fried chicken place.

I’ve decided that the tables at Nonna’s were too close for comfort and will be ordering from Drew’s tomorrow…if I can get through. I can’t wait!

The spaghetti at Jolibee has slices of hot dogs and a sweet tomato sauce. I’ve never had Jolibee but hear the chicken is pretty good. People also like their peach mango pies. I’d like to try when things are back to normal.

I just thought you were always ahead of dinner time.

He might be way ahead of his time alright. The 4pm bed time could be an extreme case of jet lag!! I
think we need to start looking at the clues a little closer…

Hmm, I think if you remove the wig from Christopher Lloyd I can start to see the resemblance to @seal

We got Drew’s tonight. Called about 3:30pm and it only took a couple tries. Really good.

That’s a nice change! What did you get?

It looks like Drew is setting up for outdoor dining.

Pork chop special, voodoo shrimp entree, Nashville hot chicken (it was really spicey this time), ragu, and the pulled pork mac and cheese app. The mac and cheese was the most popular- should have gotten two.

Porta - a report from the front.

We went to Porta yesterday for a late lunch (4pm). My report is mixed.

Porta themselves have done a nice job re-configuring ‘Porta National Park’. We had a large picnic table, nicely spaced, to ourselves. Staff was properly kitted out and mindful of the situation. I was less thrilled with some of the unmasked people who wandered up to be seated and would have liked seeing some enforcement of masks for the clientele.

We are Porta regulars and have been since Sandy. I’ve had better pizza here. My wife’s Octopus was 10/10. So, we felt generally safe, would have liked to see more masks sported by incoming clientele. Also, what kind of a bar would refuse someone a “short” draft?

We will be there tonight. Drew was kind enough to reserve me a table last night when I messaged him about ordering and happened to see the pic.

He just posted to FB that limited outside dining starts tonight.

I’m not sure. I would assume 9ish. He had three slots open for me and one was 7:30, which I took.
