Here’s an excellent deal:

I cannot believe their famous Olives are included at that price!!! It is worth it for those alone!

I kid. I like the atmosphere, people, and most of the food there. I used “famous” once as a menu descriptor but it was an inside joke with the chef.

Just back from dinner.

Guess from where.

France?

No?

Marbelo?

Neither Provence nor Portugal.

In Monmouth County…

My guess is Semolina.

Close…geographically, sort of.

Angelicas? How was it??

Sorry, fell asleep. It was in fact Angelica’s. Amazing how some places feel like they haven’t missed a beat, and some places will never come back. Everything was fantastic, not least of all the weather. That variable could be the trickiest going forward.

I searched but can’t find the brief discussion we had about food and service safety as it applied to takeout, but if anyone sees it and it’s in another thread, mods should feel free to move this. I’m curious to know after week 1 of outdoor dining how everyone is feeling about eating outside, including the safety precautions. I’ve already had conversations with a few friends about reports of restaurants having servers with masks off (or non-existent), tables less than 6’ apart, etc. It only takes one to ruin it, but I’m also of the mindset that I’m not ready to dine out with the masses yet (no judgement if you are). Thoughts?

Alcohol makes it all better

We went to Pascale and Sabine for brunch, they don’t have umbrellas for the tables and we asked if we could move one small table to the front and out two tables together and the response was they couldn’t as the tables would then be too close the the hostess stand for proper social distancing, so points for that.
All in all a good experience.
Went to Franks for breakfast yesterday and sat outside and all was good as well.

My only concern will be if outdoor is the only option in a month or so , how hot will it be considering you are dining in the street.

Cardinal seems to actually have more tables now than when they had indoor seating and I know they are very much adhering to the safety guidelines

The beer above was from the seafarer bar in Highlands. Plenty of space to distance to your heart’s content. At least early on a Sunday.

Food is from Local Smoke which is operating the food truck on site. We opted for take out from the Greek spot in Red Bank and finished up an early dinner just now.

I will say that if you are nervous about going out to eat, do not go on the weekend, and do not go out where there are a lot of people walking in the street. While most are aware, many simply do not care and will do as they please. You are better off going when and where there will not be a lot of people around.
As far as the restaurant employees and the restaurants, I am sure that many have been trained and have enhanced cleaning procedures. But, if you know restaurant employees and what goes on behind the scenes, you will have to go thinking it will be exactly as it was before. Except everyone will be wearing masks.

Agree, will not go on weekends. We haven’t dined out yet, but I’m making a list of places at which I will consider giving it a go.

Trama’s
Piancone’s
Drew’s
Nip n Tuck
Greek Spot, RB
Inlet Cafe
Beach Tavern (…depending on reports. On my daily walks, it looks like they’ve got it covered.)

how is Piancones? I’ve never been but saw some people rave- how does it compare to other what I assume are old school Italian joints like tuzios?

Despite my hesitancy, Seafarer might be my first dining (well, mainly drinking) experience when I’m finally ready. Good times there last year and them being strictly outside with spaced out places to sit (even pre-COVID it was a nice set-up) would make me more than comfortable.

A coworker of mine was there twice last week and raved about the Local Smoke food truck.
