They are freaking GORGEOUS!
How did they taste?
Beautiful! I can’t believe what was being passed off as figs at my market last week. I complained and they pulled the whole display. Squish! I was all excited when I saw them, until I fondled one, then another. All cartons were the same. Sad.
They were quite juicy and sweet! I mashed them up a bit and mixed them (and some bananas) into my favorite greek yogurt. Only $3.76 per quart and no added thickeners! It seems to be a regional brand and not easily found.
Nice! I enjoy figs with goats’ cheese.
They look great for the money. Glad they taste as good as they look, cuz they look lovely.
After my good experience with the Asiago peppercorn dressing I went back to the Sprouts Market and saw that they have quite a large selection of Cindy’s Kitchen.
I picked up a lemon shallot vinaigrette (which I bet makes for a nice seafood marinade) & buttermilk ranch
Oh, and this hot sauce from a brand we’ve tried before and liked:
They were beyond that quality…
MEH on the lemon & shallot vinaigrette. It has exactly that chemical (preservatives? emulsifiers?) aftertaste that I dislike in mass-produced dressings. Maybe I can use it to marinate things, but I ain’t putting it on a salad again, nuh-uh.
Only salad dressings I’ll buy are Russian/ thousand island for Reuben’s, and poppyseed dressing once every 5 yrs for a salad with greens, onions, blue cheese, pecans, and apples.
I make my own dressings 99.99% of the time. The asiago-black peppercorn from the same brand was nice, which is why I was hopeful for the vinaigrette. I still haven’t opened the buttermilk ranch, and a friend said they really liked the blue cheese. A roasted garlic Caesar looked promising as well, but there’s only so many cream-based dressings I need
I only buy a refrigerated blue cheese dressing, and lately that’s once or twice a year.
Bottled brands have always irked me. My feeling is dressing should be freshly made and if that’s not doable, fresh lemon or a crumbled cheese are a good sub. It’s the globby effect that stops me.
Not all dressings are globby, QED. The vinaigrette was. Sometimes you want a short cut, and lemon juice or crumbled cheese is not what I want on my salad instead of a proper dressing.
Tastes differ, natch. Which is why I didn’t attach my comment to yours.
My cry would be, there’s no more room in the fridge. The condiment army has taken over!
Made for a fun gift. Avail at Stop & Shop and ShopRite in NJ. Website shows location map.
Spence and Co. has a product with the same name.
Good to know. Have you tried this brand?
The Spence? Many times! I first saw it around 2008, when one of my students was having it for dinner before our night class. I like it.
