Bumping this up… I’m FINALLY going to get to Nettie’s this weekend with friends who love it. I know what @gcaggiano had there this week so my dessert is already planned, but for those who have been recently, let me know your favorite dishes! TOA

Though we haven’t been to Nettie’s recently (the last time was just before the Covid lockdown), I highly recommend the excellent vinegar chicken, a signature dish. You don’t say what dessert you’re planning, but I hope it’s the delicious Sicilian orange cake.
Enjoy!
The vinegar chicken is excellent
Thanks for the tag, or I would have forgotten to post.
The other night, I had a truly spectacular birthday dinner at Nettie’s. We shared homemade whipped ricotta and marinated olives. This came with seeded semolina bread and olive oil. For entrées, my friend had the espresso-rubbed flat iron steak and I had the Wednesday night special, which was a massive Chicken Parm, pounded thin, with a side of spaghetti. Desserts were also excellent-- a ricotta sorbet and a slice of orange cake. I had a martini with Boodles Gin and he had a Vodka Ginger Fizz.
Well, I understand the hype now…my friend’s birthday dinner last night gave me a glimpse of a good chunk of the menu and I can honestly say nothing disappointed! These friends are what we call ‘good eaters’ and the first thing the birthday boy said when I got in the Uber w them was “I’m so glad you came…we can order more than usual!” These are our people.
I started with an Amaro spritz* and then had a glass of prosecco with dinner (bubbles go with everything!) and then a decaf espresso martini with dessert. We neglected to take photos of everything, but I’ll drop a few in. We shared:
Fried mushrooms*
House salad
Roasted eggplant
Cacio e Pepe
Sunday Sauce (rigatoni w meatballs, hot and sweet sausages)
Tuna Milanese
Vinegar Chicken
Sicilian Orange Cake*
Ricotta Cheesecake
The * were my favorites (not quite a Sophie’s Choice situation, but if I HAVE to choose…). I’d eat those beautiful mushrooms on a daily basis; beautifully fried and covered with z’aatar and lemon. 'nuf said. The tuna was also beautifully prepared and a great surprise to all of us. And the orange cake is exactly what I love in a dessert - NOT sweet but tons of flavor. The whipped cream was delicious, although I definitely didn’t need that much (my friends helped with that).
I’ll certainly be back. Maybe solo just to sit at the bar and eat fried mushrooms.
