[Nara, Japan] 粟 ならまち店 Awa Naramachi

After a ton of walking all from Kofuku-ji to Nara Park to Kasuga Taisha to Todai-ji, we finally wound down and headed to Awa Naramachi for dinner. Figuring out public transportation around the temples were a bit challenging so we ended up walking everywhere.

Awa Naramachi was a vegetable specialist. These guys were serious about their vegetables that they had raw vegetables laid out everywhere in the counters, hallway. My wife, a vegetable lover, said that this was her favorite meal of the trip. I enjoyed the meal as well. Vegetables were of high quality. The flavors were clean and subtle.

We ordered:

2 x 粟「田舎どりと野菜」の鶏すきコース Awa “Country Chicken and Vegetables” Sukiyaki Course
2 x 粟「大和牛と野菜」のディナーコース Awa “Yamato Beef and Vegetables” Dinner Course

The veggies, soup, various cooked apps came first.

Towards the end of the meal, they brought out the raw chicken and beef plus some veggies for us to DIY grill. The eggs were for mixing and added additional richness.

Huh? Canale? A bit of a surprise after a very Japanese meal.
