My Favorite Chex mix recipe

I expect this thread to go over like a lead balloon but this is my recipe. and since it’s that time of year, just wanted to share. It’s from the 50’s and we always called it TV mix.

8 C. Rice Chex
8 C. Cheerios
6 C Wheat Chex (only because that’s all they put in the box because it’s Chex mix time):slightly_smiling_face:
1 pkg. Goldfish
2 C. Pretzels
1 large can salted cocktail peanuts

1 lb. butter
2 tsp. garlic salt
2 tsp. onion salt
2 tsp. celery salt
2 tsp. Accent (no thanks anymore)
4 TBLSP worcheshire sauce

Mix the cereal and goldfish together in large roasting pan. Melt butter with seasonings, pour over and toss to coat. 250*. Stir every 15 minutes. After 30 minutes add peanuts and pretzels since they can burn easily. Then another 30 minutes stirring at 15 minute intervals. Toss and let cool. Really best about 2 weeks later

Enjoy! And if anyone else wants to chime in with other recipes, please feel free🙂

That sounds good! I like the idea of goldfish crackers.

I want some now. Especially since I didn’t have any breakfast.

But I think because many of the Scooby Snacks included in the mix are already salty, I’d personally switch to garlic and onion powders.

Sounds fantastic aside from the Cheerios. For some reason, I despise them. I would sub in Bran Chex!

We add fresh popped white popcorn and cashews in place of peanuts. Your recipe is a classic, thxs for sharing it. Road trip food for sure.
