My Dry January has gotten all wet

I made it! Taking it easy. The prosecco was flat, my celebratory drink is 1/2oz Campari, 1/2oz triple sec and Italian blood orange soda. I also plan to practice moderation, I’m still doing news blackout. Happy wet February.

I also broke my dry January last night with a glass (or 2) of Union Sacré Edelzwicker! Agree re: the news - trying to avoid it the best I can but it’s like watching a train wreck and I can’t look away.

Try to look away. A LOT of it is bluster. Ezra Klein had a great take on it today.

I think the majority of Americans are reflexively squeezing their eyes shut. I have a friend who calls it *news sobriety". I call it The Great Turning Inward.

That Italian blood orange soda mixes well with a lot of stuff, I’m finding out.

Yup, good stuff, especially with tequila.

Or gin!

Would you say it’s on the tarter or sweeter side?

I bet Nolet’s or Bluecoat would be great, or the South African Bloedlemoen gin.

Mine has added sugar, so I think it is sweeter. I don’t really care for it with gin.
eta: I like a Negroni with a splash of blood orange.

I’ve used the Sanpellegrino one, and it’s definitely soda, albeit made with actual juice, so it’s not unsweet. I usually dilute it with plain sparkling water or combine it with tonic to up the tartness factor.

Ah, yeah. I’d tried the SP thinking it might be less sweet than an orange soda. I mean… it’s not Fanta, but still — I’m decidedly on the tart/dry side of cocktails.

I do that too.

I get fresh blood orange juice every week and it’s great mixed with vodka or rye and some sparkling water and a squeeze of lemon. Also have it every morning (sans alcohol) with my coffee and breakfast. Love the tartness of it.

San Peeligrino is def on the tarter side. That’s why I like it.

I’m pretty sensitive to sweet drinks, which is why I even dilute the “driest” tonic water with bubbly water for G&Ts.

I prefer my San Pellegrino au naturel

The Pellegrino blood orange flavors are great. They should be, considering their sugar content.

Still a wee bit less that regular soda. I factor it in to the daily nutrition calculation and I don’t drink it as a thirst quencher, sadly.

I’ll check the label, but I think a 250ml can has 26 grams of sugar.

San Pelligrino - 330 ml has 29 grams of sugars, 33g of carbohydrates.
Coca Cola - 12 oz has 39 grams of sugar, 39 grams of carbohydrate.

330 ml = 11.158 ozs. So coke is a bit more sugary.
