Earlier this year I drove down to Georgia and, working mainly out of Brunswick, at at a whole lot of places there and in the Carolinas (Elliot’s, Wilber’s, Grady’s) culminating in a pig pickin’ in Lumberton – too may to report on individually here. Some highlights were Hootenannys in Brunswick – a terrific barbecue place. Each of these places is definitely worth a detour.
with excellent brisket

blueberry(!) sausage that won me over

and a better bologna than I'd thought could exist.
More details are, of course on my blog (search 2025 Georgia Tour). I would have more but there were so many places and I’m still working on our Bordeaux stay, with a river cruise, Paris, a Western NC tour, and a VA-NC-SC trips to write up. I guess I should all do highlights of the Charleston Road Food Crawl and Blowing Rick, NC. Sheesh. Happy to answer questions though.
@johntannerbbq - they’re all there. Hover over the first photo and you’ll see a right-facing arrow in the lower right-hand corner. You can click through that way. OR - you can click the little dots at the bottom of your post to see each individual picture.
I know others post multiple pictures this way elsewhere on HO; I can’t recall how it’s done, but you did it! LOL
Wow. That Southern Soul Tray and the B&J Shrimp are dueling it out for Best of Show. Both look delicious!
I found all 8 of the photos. I have to admit that I like the one photo at a time format better, but the nested photos work well too.
Looks like you had a great BBQ tour so far!
It was a great tour with lots of additional good spots! And I’ve had two more bbq tours since --a Lexington/Western NC tour and a VA-NC-SC tour as research for “best” lists. And a trip to Bordeaux followed by a river cruise and then to Paris. I’ll share it all in the fulness of time, and try to keep the photos and text in order, but technology usually triumphs over me.
